Disappointing

It was okay. Small room, which got too hot. Open window helped. Bathroom had a fan which didn’t work and a tap was unsecured. The food was disappointing. We spent one night here and had high hopes. Unfortunately we went to much better hotels and so this one seemed poor in comparison. It was expensive though which makes it all the more disappointing.

Lovely, quaint building from the outside in untouched, serene and beautiful Gairloch. Complete silence on the Loch. The perfect getaway for those looking to escape the city. Service in hotel quirky which is fine, but not necessarily what you expect when paying £300 a night and £110 for dinner (not including drinks). Room was fairly basic for £300. Basic amenities and old, antique-like furniture. Sound proofing a real problem (room 9) with sounds from the next door rooms (7 and 8) and the stairwell clearly audible throughout the night. Overall, an enjoyable stay but overpriced. Recommend kayaking with Gairloch Kayaks when you visit.

We had a great welcome, and the food was excellent, but our room in the former servants quarters was snug, and lacked a fridge. Nice bar and lounge areas, and the loch view must be great when it’s not raining. #NC500

Perfect peaceful location

Used Shieldaig as 1 night stopover during our tour of Scotland. This place is so lovely and there’s so much to do in the immediate are that I wish we’d booked 2 nights.

Incredible

I booked this hotel last minute as I was driving through Scotland. It is an absolutely incredible hotel. The staff is outstanding. The hotel itself is old, but well maintained, and really quite cozy. I missed dinner, and wish I hadn’t, because much of the food is sourced right there on the estate. The breakfast was excellent. The bar has so many whiskeys and gins that it’s pretty overwhelming. There is so much to do on the grounds from hiking to falconry. I would say this hotel is definitely worth going out of the way for. I’m definitely coming back for an extended stay in the future.

The building is beautiful with extraordinary views. So many acres for hiking. The room was large and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was large as well but the shower was a little weird (hard to regulate) and the water was a little yellowish.
