Griffin Hotel - A Colonial Williamsburg Hotel

Clean, spacious room. Friendly staff. Easy access to the Historic district. Really enjoyed my stay here!

The pull out couch was very old and very uncomfortable to both sit on and sleep on. Our daughters preferred to sleep on the floor rather than the couch or fold out bed. The second night I rented a second room since sleeping on the sofa bed was simply not an option

Beautiful large room overlooking the pond! Made our mini vacation perfect.

We got in later than we wanted to because of traffic. Once we arrived, it was very confusing trying to figure out where to check in since all the hotels on the property were all part of the same corporation. Once checked in, the paperwork listed 2 rooms that were ours, but our keys didn't work for either. Since the check in desk is drive up thr road from where the room is, had to wait in the hallway for about 20 minutes until a employee could come with a new set of keys. With the traffic and check in issues, we missed our dinner reservations. To top it off, after we got back to our room later in the evening once we found something to eat, all the parking spots were full with someone taking up 5 spots with their car and RV attached. Very disappointed overall :(

Overall we had a great stay, my only complaint is that the check-in situation is very awkward. We were sent an email from The Griffin with check-in instructions but they were the wrong instructions. After 2 phone calls and some driving around we found the correct location for check-in. It was quite a long way from the building where we ending up staying! Our room was spacious, had a large balcony and was spotlessly clean. We were in a twin room, one bed was med-hard and the other bed was hard. (This suited us but I realize that not everyone likes a hard bed). I would stay here again.

Check in and out are confusing. They provide alternate check in location, but then that’s not where the ci actually was, resulting in some driving around. No direction provided for how to check out (especially early.) could have used maps and info, beyond what was provided

The overall location of this hotel is great. The staff was really helpful from the front desk to the pool.

Negatives: Dated property, uncomfortable beds, queen sheet used on king bed. Positives: location and room size.

The property itself was quaint, secluded, and the pond area was very nice. We booked the room based on the room description on Expedia, which at the time said that the rooms come with a soaking tub and room service. The room that we were given was on the first floor and smelled very moldy. There was no soaking tub, no room service, and barely any housekeeping on staff at all. Very disappointing for the area considering that there were other much nicer places in close proximity.

We had a great stay and felt very safe and comfortable with the steps the hotel was taking amid the pandemic. The hand sanitizer in the hotel room was a bonus as well. The room was clean, the bed was luxurious, and staff was kind and masked.
