It was fine

The hotel was solidly ok, would I stay there again? Probably not The service in the bar was lackluster and I had to go to the staff after waiting 30 minutes for a meal that was promised in 15 minutes. Breakfast was nothing to write home about and the area was too small for the number of people it was supposed to serve.

Super hotel in quiet part of Hamburg.

I loved the hotel. It was Very clean and modern. The room was well appointed, with a comfortable bed and attractively decorated. It was lovely and warm when it was cold outside. The breakfast was lovely, good quality with a selection of hot and cold fayre and lovely coffee, however it was the same every day so a bit more choice would be welcome. I liked the fact that the times were very flexible being from 6-11am. Even though we didn’t travel with our children I liked the way that the children’s breakfast items were placed at children’s height with brightly coloured plates. Nice touch. The only negative I can think of (and it’s nit-picking) is that although only a 15 minute walk from the main station it did seem quite a way from the main city centre. It didn’t bother us as we like walking, but could be a problem for some especially as when we traveled it was very wet weather.

This hotel was about a 15 minute walk to the town hall. Although there were buses, within walking distance the number 112 and the number 3. The room we had was a queen sized, although it was clean and had a seating area, there was not a lot of cupboard space or hangers if you were staying more than a couple of nights. The breakfast was okay but the cooked breakfast was always cold.

Good value

A group of 8 , some stayed for 2 nights we stayed for 6. I had emailed the hotel before we travelled, they arranged our rooms close together on the same floor. There is a bar but no restaurant, there are plenty of nearby eating alternatives . Rooms were good, staff friendly ,it was easyto walk into the city. A nice clean hotel, which was good value.

Spotlessly clean, helpful staff, good selection at breakfast. Room ready early, tea n coffee always a welcome. Lovely new room. Only downside, although not a long walk to centre, not very attractive, obviously building works can't be helped, but nothing to catch your eye on the way in, eg shops etc.

It was handy for walking to the train station and the shopping area especially the Rathaus Christmas market. It was rather further to Hafen City but we enjoyed the walk. Found a super beer cellar on Willy Brant street. Well worth a visit. Plenty to see and do: St Pauli Museum, the wax works, art galleries. Lovely city.

Be Careful while staying at Hampton by Hilton!!

Cash got stolen from my room - The house keepers have came in my room and took out some cash leaving some behind. When reported to the hotel, the management were not able to substantiate that their investigations were done rightfully. They only said no cameras were covering the walkways of each level, hence unable to track movement of housekeepers. Also questions were thrown back at me, asking why i have not made use of the safe locker instead! They also said the housekeepers are newly hired and they denied stealing the money. Also, my room door was faulty. It doesnt lock on its own when you leave the room. It closes gently but doesnt lock. They have given me a faulty room which also enables room attendant to leave it unlock to come back again! This was shown to the housekeeping manager. The police were also called in but they too have disregarded the case as a petty matter and closed it. The hotel then, after a few times confronting, decided to reimburse 6 nights stay (i stayed for 7 nights and my colleague in another room for 7 nights). Then we had to argue that the amount reimbursed is not even equal to the amount stolen (800 Euro) and then after a lengthy conversation, they decided to reimburse the fully paid amount of SGD 1300 for the 7 nights stay! It was a nightmare! We trusted the brand Hilton and we were welcomed with such unacceptable behaviour! Will never go to Hilton esp this hotel ever again!
