The Bartizan

The Bartizan was the most beautiful place to stay. The hotel is immaculately decorated, and fits right in with historical Galle. I was here for my last few days in Sri Lanka and the hotel kindly arranged my PCR test and were super helpful with the current covid situation. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you for a wonderful stay and all the help.

Pleasant Stay

This boutique hotel is situated right in the centre of Galle- with the rooftop area overlooking the fort and walking distance to plenty of restaurants, gelato and massage places. The hotel is a short drive from Unawatuna- a beach town with a calm sea. We stayed here for two nights and had a packed breakfast (sandwich and fruit) one morning and the usual breakfast on our second day- not bad- the usual eggs, pancakes, tea/ coffee, fruit. The rooms are a reasonable size, but dark due to 'the bartizan' nature of the hotel - shutters. We found it perfect for what we needed and the wifi is fast. The roof area is really nice for afternoon tea/ reading (and they offer free tea and cake between 3-5pm). Overall we were really happy with our stay. Only small niggle was there are no shower facilities after check out (11am which they kindly extended until 12pm) which meant we couldn't do much on our last day and were just hanging about the area. Also we were told they were full so couldn't offer another room to shower (which we would have gladly paid to use), but I later found out there was actually a room available.

Great hotel.

Lovely new hotel located within Galle Fort next to the walls that look out over the ocean. Room was very nice and quiet with a good shower and comfy bed. The staff were happy to help with anything the the breakfast was fantastic! Definitely recommended!

Amazing location & Staff

Sent 2 nights here with my family and had a fantastic time! The location is amazing inside the fort with everything within walking distance! The building is a 300 year old beautiful Dutch house! The staff are very accommodating too & got to have breakfast on our balcony each morning overlooking the ocean

Difficult to review this really unusual hotel. Great location, lovely feel. Particularly liked the courtyard and roof terrace. Our room was small and without a window, which isn't great for me. Storage was poor,we were really living out of the suitcases. Bathroom privacy may be an issue - as only a partition glass screen between bedroom and bathroom (in our room, don't know about other rooms). We stayed for three nights which is probably the most one would wish to do. Breakfast good, but quantities for us too large. We scaled down for second morning, but witnessed a lot of wasted food on places which is a pity in this essential poor country. I would recommend.
