Hyatt Place Santa Cruz

We had a great stay overall but there were several things that made for a less than perfect stay. Most importantly is the parking. Valet Option Only for $15/day plus tips anytime you need to take your car out (tip is not compulsory but it feels wrong not to tip the valet) it really made the hotel stay much more expensive than what we had planned for. The COVID style breakfast was OK but understandable. As far as service... the Valet staff was excellent! Very friendly and efficient given the space constraints. The front desk however was not as great, no major issues or problems but just not friendly or welcoming at all. The hotel was clean and well maintained although there were almost never towels available by the pool. Again I'm mostly stating the issues we had but overall no major complaints. On the positive side the hotel is located very close to the boardwalk and downtown Santa Cruz and very clean and well maintained.

Very Clean. Modern. Safe. Key card required in elevator to access your floor. Bed, pillows and shower were terrible for my husband and I personally . Beds were super soft, sagged in the middle and sloped toward the headboard. The tv was located near beds and not couch requiring tv watching from bed which was not comfortable. A second tv near couch would have been amazing. Water pressure in shower was dreadful. The pressure was so high that I first feared the fixture would fly off and gouge me in the face. Luckily it did not, but It’s pulverized my skin

Front staff was very rude. They only have valley parking and the driveway was so small you got stuck out on the street waiting for space to pull in and get out of the car. Do not recommend this hotel at all.

Really nice young woman Ava was so sweet at check in desk. They were helpful getting my laundry dealt with. Bathroom door didnt lock, but that was a tiny issue

Beautiful hotel but the people above us were loud all night playing techno music till 2 am. Then it was just constant slamming doors and loud voices. When I called the front desk multiple times, no one answered. So twice in the middle of the night I had to go downstairs to get someone to investigate. After security responded it was still loud. I barely slept at all which really impacted the trip for me. The next day I complained and they said I should pay more for a fourth floor room next time. They did comp my $15 parking pass but that is not much for the sacrifices my family made to take a trip that didn’t allow us a good nights sleep. For $250 a night, I think I paid enough to not have to be awake all night due to loud people.

We were on a kid free weekend (friday evening-sunday) and wanted to stay at a place that had a restuarant/bar in it that was open considering covid. We looked at a bunch of different hotels & decided to stay at the Hyatt Place & pay a little extra because they had 24 hr room service, restaurant, bar and a market for snacks....... when we checked in that was not the case. They did not update their website that all of their room service, restaurant & bar were still closed ... & the market was a cooler of water,sodas & chips. Our room was on the second floor which was very nice & enjoyable until we got back with our dinner, wanted to eat,watch tv & relax..... the people above us were so loud, running, jumping & stomping. After listening to it for hours I called the front desk at 9pm & she said she would send someone to take care of it. The noise continued until after 11pm & started back up at 630am in the morning & continued the rest of the weekend. We were going to complain again about the noise but after hearing others in front of us complain about the noise the girl at the counter said "next time you can ask to stay on the top floor....it cost more but you wouldn't have as much noise".... so my complaint was going to be pointless.....Would i stay here again.....ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Try to avoid showing up at 3 for checkin, workers are overwhelmed with the amount if people showing up for check in and service goes down with how much theybare overwhelmed. I would wait until 4 if possible.

Amazing staff, beautiful very clean room.

Vallet service was great those guys deserve a raise
