Quality Inn & Suites Kansas City Downtown

Property was dirty and smelled horrible .. luckily it was only for one night ..

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I was fooled by an 8.2 guest rating, and didn't want everyone else to be duped as well. This is a 1 star hotel, 2 star at best. All I ask for in a hotel is that it's clean and convenient. This hotel is neither. The entrance is not accessible, so you have to drag your bags up stairs to even get in the place. I learned after having paid that the elevator was not working, so I also had to walk my bags up three flights of stairs to my third floor room. They should have said something before I booked and paid. The room itself was disgusting. There were three hairs in my bed, and orange-red stains on the comforter. The floor was sticky, and there were dead bugs all over the window sills. I don't think the walls have ever been cleaned, as they were filthy. The shower had something splattered all over the wall. This was particularly gross considering that we are in the midst of a pandemic, and hotels should be doing a better job of cleaning. The walls of these rooms are paper thin, and people were coming up and down the stairs, slamming the doorway to the staircase all night. I also awoke to hearing the man in the room next to me snoring. I've stayed in thousands of hotels all over the world, and this ranks in the top five worst. Do not stay here.

No operating elevator for older people and we were put on the third floor

The hotel tried to charge a different amount than was agreed with hotels.com. Had to spend 20 minutes on the phone with hotels.com customer service to get it sorted out before I could check in. Hotel staff refused to wear a face mask. Was then given the wrong room - Queen beds instead of King. Room was noticeably unclean. Elevator was broken, and only available King bed was on 5th floor. Left and stayed at a different hotel. Hotel refused to refund until multiple phone calls were made.

Very clean, the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. But there is one major oddity I must note. This place is called the "Downtown" Quality Inn. It's nowhere near downtown! To walk to downtown would take well over an hour. And I wouldn't do it at night. If you want the downtown nightlife and vibe, this is definitely not the place for you. It would take about 45 minutes to walk to the free train, as well. If you want isolation, this is it!

The front staff people were so friendly and inviting. I cannot say enough about this because that is something that is very important to me. Hotel was doing some remodeling but we had a great experience. Clean and comfortable

Wouldn’t have been so bad if I was in a decent room but I got thrown in a handicapped room. I was in KC on a solo trip for a friend's wedding and when I arrived back that night around 11 p.m. there were people outside of the hotel smoking weed and no one at the front desk. I also got a wake-up call at 5:15 which I did not request. I would honestly would just say pay a little bit extra and stay somewhere else.
