Nice guest house in a good location for accessing Oxford City Centre. Very pleasant staff. Very clean and lovely breakfast. Problems on arrival. No-one there to let us in on arrival, despite having replied to their message to advise the owners of our anticipated arrival time. Just locked doors and no answer to knocking. Felt unwelcoming at that stage. Managed to find a chap working at the bottom of the garden and he helpfully phoned the owner and managed to let us in (not sure who he was). The door to our room was open but again no key available, by which time we couldn’t find the first chap. Phoned the owner who said she’d try to contact him snd phone back. Didn’t prove back for maybe 1-2hrs, by which time we’d decided to leave our stuff in an unlocked room, taking any valuables with us into the city centre. One of the beds not made up and no towels for this guest. The bunk bed was extremely uncomfortable and noisy if anyone turned in the night. Light in the bathroom was automatic, so came on brightly if anyone nipped to the toilet in the night, so unavoidably very bright which woke other guests. We very much enjoyed our break in Oxford and the guest house was lovely and clean, nice temperature, good location and lovely breakfast and friendly staff. A nice place to stay if the owners made sure there wasn’t a problem with welcoming guests on their arrival. I suspect most rooms are very clean snd airy and comfortable - just not the bunk bed in the family room.

I needed to stay somewhere close by to the hospital where my wife was staying &i couldn't have picked a better place to stay for the service, costs & location. John & Yan are fabulous host.

Mini break at the Oxford Guest House

We stayed at this guest house because it was family friendly and very clean. Also, as I lived in Headington when I was a student, I knew the area very well and also how easy it was to access Oxford Centre. It was close to our friends in Princes Risborough, so we could meet both days. Our arrival was hectic because it was pouring with rain and we could not get onto the forecourt as there was a car in the way! I had to stop on the pavement with back of the car sticking out into the road! The owner was alerted and moved the car which enabled me to use the parking at the back of the property. That was the only hitch, otherwise a pleasant and friendly stay.

Nice stay in overall

+Breakfast Fast Good +Location Excellent +Free Parking Available +Cleanness The single room with wheelchair accessible doesn’t have towels rail which make the bathroom very cold in the morning. And the bathroom side walls from glass look down to garden and parking and the embankment not really cover up the glass 100% which hits you privacy and there are no ventilation fan in bathroom. The receptionist must have a little bit of confidence on people. She asked me if I just arrived from abroad and I answered no. Then she asked me again like she is not believing me which actually bothered me like come on look to may age in the passport I am not going to lie on you!!!! In cass you have any concerns please ask the guest these questions on hotel message box in hotels.com. I really recommend the guest house but (not this specific room).

Great guest house close to Oxford

Really warm and friendly welcome, delicious breakfast with plenty of choice, room was clean and reasonably sized for one person. Good amenities close by with supermarkets, cafes, coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. And close enough to Oxford centre with good transport links. Would happily stay again!
